Ross continues the theme of bee colony death – we may have no honey in the UK this Christmas.

Recommneded read: A World without bees by Alison Benjamin & Brian McCallum

“If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe then man would only have four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man.”

Noel introduces the fourth and final part of our serial – Rossum’s Universal Robots.

Feature : 2084: Big Robot is Watching You

Ross interviews Noel about the release of his report on the future of robots in policing up to the year 2084. Noel talks about the benifits of protecting police and citizen again concealed weapons and suicide bombers as well as the big downside – the erosion of individual privacy and basic human rights. You can download the report from Noel’s web page (right hand side) . The 2084 in the title is an illusion to George Orwell’s novel, 1984. You can read it for free online. He describes a dystopian society where individuals are continuously monitored by the authorities.

Weird Science

Noise irritation and we are not talking about Noel and Ross. We discuss the effects of subsonic sounds on bowels and we talk about the ultrasonic weapons against teenagers collecting outside shops. Noel and Ross rail against the Mosquito which the manufactures call a “teenage deterrent” This is something that Ross and Noel would like to see bite the dust. It wont just affect teenages – it is an irritant for anyone under 25 including babies!
